Cloud Cover .SG materializes my view of the sky over Singapore from a single location over a period of nine days. Clouds are curious and ambivalent mixtures. They can uplift, but they can also obscure. As signifiers in our now digital lives—cloud storage, cloud computing, cloud security—clouds are everyplace and noplace, their material infrastructures and backends far outside of our fields of vision. In our physical landscapes, clouds are location-bound but otherworldly. They shape shift and move at variable speeds. They carry signals and substances, messages and memories, dreams and risks. Looking up, I map the cover as a form of tribute to all the things I cannot see.
